There are more local film groups listed, but I have not been able to track down active websites: Youlgreave Cinema, The Peak Film Society (Partington Theatre, Glossop), Pauper’s Pit (Old Hall Hotel, Buxton), Cressbrook Film Group and Matlock Film Society.
Also what has happened following the redevelopment of the Metro Cinema in Derby?
Finally, I noted in the Woman’s World article that the Youlgreave Group was helped initially by a small grant from the Derbyshire Rural Community Council (http://www.derbyshirercc.org.uk/).
In reply to the above Martin emailed me that the Metro Cinema had moved to a temporary venue at Derby University in 2006, but that there it had its final showing on the 23rd of March this year. He also sent the following link for its planned replacement Quad http://www.derbyquad.co.uk/ due to open later this year (Summer 2008).
Eventually getting there with the links to other Derbyshire Film Groups. Still remaining are: Cressbrook Film Group and Matlock Film Society. Unless of course you know of any more.
Does anyone have any details of the Empire Cinema Group in Ashbourne? I understand they have weekly showings at the Empire Ballroom in King Edward Street.
There was an article on the Cimema Group project in the DD DC “artsMATTERS” winter 2007 newsletter where it said to contact Councillor Andrew Lewer on
